"Everything you do, do it with love"

This is the slogan of the Vozandes Fundación and it is reflected day by day in the attitude of Christian love that prevails in the entire team of this Medical Center, north of the city of Quito – Ecuador.

We always long to give glory to God and to be recognized as the healing and merciful hands of Jesus Christ, under which we build relationships with the community and the environment.

Every little detail is important, a smile, a word of encouragement, or a small economic solution, makes the difference for the life of a patient in pain and in need of health.

I remember when a young girl came to the medical center with her mother, they were both very distressed, her face was swollen and her mother was desperate because they had gone to another care center and were given an  appointment in three months. They also did not have money for the consultation.

Immediately after learning about this situation and, thanks to the human quality of our doctors and an agile verification of their home economic condition, we immediately took care of covering the cost of the medical consultation. This allowed the patient to receive her diagnosis and for the mother, the tranquility to accompany her and take care of her during the treatment.

Honor, Glory, Praise and Recognition be to God.

Demonstrate God's love through our patient service

In the Laboratory area we have a few minutes to interact with our patients while we take their samples for analysis. However, I have had the great blessing of meeting wonderful people and being able to convey a word of encouragement from God.

In these years, several patients have come who have left fond memories in my heart, for example, the lady who came for a control examination and when taking the sample began to cry, she could no longer bear her family problems; she allowed me to hug her and pray for her as we hugged.

Or the girl who was afraid of needles and didn’t want to even be in the phlebotomy area, we went to a quieter area and I had the blessing to talk to her explaining that we are all afraid, and that is fine, but that we can be brave because God is still with us in these situations. She made it! And we were able to do the exam.

Or the man who needed to draw blood from a relative, an elderly (85-year-old) oncology patient who could hardly move. The man explained that she was his stepmother, and he was the only one who helped her.  God allowed me to encourage him and remind him that God sees our works, even when no one else does.

Of course, God reminds us every day that in His goodness and mercy He can use us as an instrument to serve our patients and through them we too can be blessed.
